Presenting Purple Corn - The Next Superfood
Purple Corn has existed in Peru for over 2500 years and its kernel have been used and consumed by the Peruvians as a regular source of diet. Over the years, much research has been conducted to better understand the health benefits through the consumption of Purple Corn and the outcome was the discovery of an unusually high content of Anthocyanins, the antioxidant-rich dark pigment that gives foods like purple corn its intensely dark purplish colour. In fact, Purple Corn contains one of the highest levels of a particular Anthocyanin called Cyanidin-3-Glucoside—commonly known as “C3G”, which has been found to contribute greatly to the significant health benefits often attributed to Purple Corn.
The comparative Anthocyanin levels of Purple Corn against some other popular blue/purple foods, is shown below (in mg per 100 g):
The Birth of GU3G™
Having understood the potential that purple corn could bring to the health-foods industry, we worked with experts from South Korea who developed a unique F1 strain Purple Corn that yields the highest level of Anthocyanin and C3G levels, especially in the husks. This proprietary strain is grown entirely within in-house purple corn facilities in South Korea under stringent and controlled conditions.
Our experts then took a step further in the research where they successfully pioneered and patented an extraction method that would allow everybody to reap the benefits of C3G in a compact and convenient format, which we call - GU3G™.
